Idiom Leads Multiple Sessions At Dita 2006 To Promote DITA's Emerging Role In Globalization
Presentations to Focus on Best Practices and Success Stories in Using the XML Standard to Better Manage Global Content
Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - March 13, 2006 - Idiom
® Technologies, Inc. (Idiom), the leading independent provider of scalable software solutions for accelerating and optimizing globalization initiatives, today announced it will lead two educational sessions at the DITA 2006 Conference being held March 23-25, 2006 at the McKimmon Conference Center in Raleigh, NC.
Presented by Bright Path Solutions and co-sponsored by the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS), DITA 2006 is the first annual gathering of Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) users. The three-day conference will bring together worldwide experts to help attendees leverage the power of DITA. In its presentations, Idiom will highlight the cost, process and time-to-market gains that can be achieved with DITA-based deployments. The sessions will also feature real-world examples and practical advice that attendees can apply on the job. The sessions are:
- "Case Study: Converting Unstructured Content to DITA XML," Thursday, March 23 at 4:45 p.m.
One of the barriers to adopting XML as the source format for content is the problem of converting legacy data. In this presentation, Idiom technical writer Willie Williams will provide a step-by-step case study on how to complete a legacy content conversion project by moving the Idiom WorldServer documentation set from unstructured FrameMaker to DITA XML.
- "Using DITA to Expedite Global Publishing," Friday, March 24 at 4:45 p.m.
Today, major global companies are merging automated publishing and advanced globalization techniques to perform "continuous translations" - ongoing translations of smaller topic-oriented content units as they are completed. In this presentation, Idiom globalization evangelist Bill Rabkin will address how global organizations can apply the power of DITA to the global content lifecycle in order to improve their competitive standing on an international scale. With real-world examples, he will demonstrate the strategic gains organizations can make by managing translation and localization as an integral component of content authoring and delivery.
