® Technologies, Inc. (Idiom), the leading independent provider of scalable software solutions for accelerating and optimizing globalization initiatives, today announced it has made a significant gift of technology to California State University, Chico College of Business in support of the school's growing localization curriculum (
http://www.csuchico.edu/localize/). The CSU Chico College of Business was among the first academic programs in international e-business/localization in the United States. It provides education, training and outreach in localization and international e-business to help students and businesses compete in the new global networked economy.
"It's an important differentiator for our program that we enable our students to use the same technology here that they'll use in a real-world setting," said Nitish Singh, Ph.D, head of the Localization program at CSU Chico College of Business. "The generous gift Idiom has given to our program ensures our 2007 graduating class will enter the competitive globalization and localization job market with the valuable WorldServer user credential."
CSU Chico College of Business' localization program offers courses to train students in international e-marketing, software and Web site localization, project management, cultural customization and cross-national research, preparing them to implement and manage international Web sites and software applications after graduation.
"There are now tremendous career opportunities for professionals who are well-trained in globalization and localization techniques and technologies, and this is why programs such as CSU Chico's are so important," said Mike Iacobucci, president and chief executive officer, Idiom Technologies, Inc. "Training on WorldServer in the lab setting ensures that graduates of the program are highly marketable the day they graduate and that they'll be Idiom champions for the rest of their careers."
The CSU Chico Localization Program has five core components:
1. Localization and E-Marketing Track: This Track offers students the opportunity to specialize and be trained in the field of localization and international e-business. After successfully completing coursework, students are awarded a "Localization and E-Marketing Scholar Award."
2. Summer Triple Certification: This is a 60-hour course for students, executives and non-traditional and part-time students. The course provides rigorous training in localization through a combination of online course work, videos and 20 hours of on-campus summer instruction. Graduates receive a triple certification in localization from California State University Chico RCE, GALA and The Localization Institute.
3. Industry Collaboration: Students and faculty participate in activities that nurture greater collaboration between the localization industry, including companies such as Idiom Technologies, and the school's localization program.
4. Study Abroad: Students are encouraged to spend a semester or summer studying at the Euromed Marseille Ecole De Management in France.
5. Inter-Disciplinary Orientation: The program looks for synergies with other disciplines within CSU Chico to provide students with a well-rounded education in localization.
