Idiom Ships Latest Version Of Worldserver Globalization Software

Customer Feedback Drives Development of WorldServer 3.2, Release Features Enhanced Enterprise Integration

Waltham, MA - September 11, 2001 - Idiom Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise globalization solutions, today announced the availability of a new version of its popular Idiom WorldServer™ Web infrastructure software for globalization. Responding to the needs of its customers, Idiom has enhanced WorldServer by extending enterprise globalization scalability, expanding project management capabilities, and streamlining interaction with translation firms.

"Idiom has always placed a premium on developing products to meet real customer needs, as evidenced by the improved functionality of WorldServer 3.2," said Jeff Boehm, senior director of marketing. "The enhanced software addresses the latest enterprise globalization requirements of our clients and confirms our commitment to keeping pace with customer requests."

New WorldServer Functionality
WorldServer software is designed to seamlessly integrate into existing Web infrastructure while efficiently managing the globalization process. With WorldServer 3.2, Idiom expands its open architecture to fully support customers' Java-based enterprise strategies through support for J2EE Web application servers. It extends enterprise globalization scalability with failover capability to ensure that customer sessions are not interrupted by server downtime, and backup and recovery functionality that includes all globalization-related information such as translation memory, globalization business rules, and configuration details.

WorldServer 3.2 improves overall globalization project management through enhanced scoping and improved integration with third party translation tools. WorldServer's scoping tool has been enhanced to provide detailed costing of new or potential globalization projects, including factoring in existing translation memory and different translation rates per language or translator.

Many Idiom customers rely on translation firms that use a wide variety of proprietary and third party translation tools. To support more effective customer interaction with translation firms, Idiom has extended the GlobalExchange functionality of WorldServer 3.2 to support the industry standard TMX. This support will streamline translation memory exchange between Idiom customers and a broad range of third party products, and ultimately result in lower translation costs.

"Globalization remains a priority for organizations trying to leverage the Internet to market to diverse geographic locations and ethnic groups," said Nikos Drakos at Gartner. "Technology with extended enterprise capabilities, assists organizations in streamlining the process. Investment in the right technology infrastructure remains a critical next step for those companies banking on additional revenue growth from global markets."
