Idiom And Akamai Team To Deliver Global Web Content

Delivering Multinational, Multilingual Content with Increased Speed and Performance to Worldwide Audiences

Cambridge, MA - January 27, 2000 - Idiom, Inc., the premier provider of Web globalization, and Akamai Technologies (NASDAQ: AKAM), the foremost provider of global, high performance services for the delivery of Internet content, streaming media, and applications, today announced an alliance to cooperatively market global e-business solutions.

Idiom will team with Akamai to jointly promote their solutions, WorldServer™ and FreeFlowSM respectively. The companies will work together to train their mutual sales organizations and will collaborate to establish joint marketing programs. The combination of Idiom's WorldServer Web-based globalization technology and Akamai's FreeFlow Internet content delivery service will offer corporations the ability to maintain a Web architecture and content that functions globally. The solutions together provide distributed control and collaboration among managers and contributors worldwide with enhanced speed, performance and reliability.

"The combination of our products will offer a customer-centric e-business solution to companies that understand the importance of performance and content tailored for the unique needs of each market," said Fred Lizza, president and CEO of Idiom. "Together FreeFlow and WorldServer offer corporations the network foundation and the global Web presence that is essential for maintaining an e-business."

"In order for companies to succeed in global e-business, they require solutions to develop and deliver content on a global scale," said Earl Galleher, vice president, Worldwide Sales and Support, Akamai. "Our alliance with Idiom will ensure that customers' multicultural, multilingual content will be delivered with improved performance worldwide."

Idiom's WorldServer is a powerful Web-based application that helps enterprises manage content as part of the entire Web globalization process, while leveraging established Web architecture, content management, and workflow systems. WorldServer simplifies complexities arising from deploying a Web strategy around the world: countries, multiple languages, sites, and cultures. It also provides structure and process to the collaborations among site managers, Web developers, content owners, translators, and editors. The result is a streamlined process, a synchronized global Web strategy, and a coordinated global Web team.

Akamai's Alliance Partner Program targets companies who help content providers effectively utilize the Web for their business needs. Partners include Web developers who use Akamai's high-performance Internet content delivery services to enhance their own service offering; application vendors who complement Akamai's FreeFlow service; and systems integrators who recommend Akamai as a solution for improving Web performance.
